Dnature is a company that specialises in PCR and real-time PCR. They offer testing, training, troubleshooting, and assay design.
Dnature has made a push to make their business more renewable by joining the Number 5 plastic movement.
The Integra/Viaflo tips that Dnature use can now be recycled as they are rated as a Number 5 plastic.
Unlike Packit, they have had a difficult time when this change was implemented in early 2021. Not all New Zealand councils were recycling this plastic, meaning that even though Dnature had done the right thing, their tips were ending up in landfills.
Dnature has had to expand and did this by supporting local and working alongside a New Zealand business that will take their Number 5 plastic away once they are waste and reuse and recycle them, by re-engineering them into food packaging for New Zealand brands.
Dnature has also designed a programme so that other companies that are struggling to recycle their Number 5 plastics can get in touch with them.
They will then educate other companies on how they can make sure that their Number 5 plastic waste does not end up in landfills and is instead reused and recycled right here in New Zealand.
